Saint Paul's Pillar sits within the Panagia Chrysopolitissa (Agia Kyriaki) archaeological site in Kato Paphos, a short walk from the harbour. At its heart stands a slender white marble column, just over five feet tall, where tradition holds the Apostle Paul was tied and given "forty lashes minus one" for preaching Christianity around AD 45. Around it lie the atmospheric ruins of an early Christian basilica, still-standing columns, colourful mosaic floors and the remains of an earlier church, with an Ottoman-era hammam tucked into one corner.
Entry is free and the fenced site is easy to explore, with information signs in English helping visitors make sense of the layered history. Reviewers describe it as a genuine gem, beautiful in the sunshine and rewarding to visit during quieter hours when you can see the old ruins within touching distance. Note that some raised walkways have been closed for repairs, though the pillar and much of the site remain accessible. Allow around 30-45 minutes to take it all in.
