Lakatamia does not do tourist menus. It is where Nicosia actually lives, and where a lot of it actually eats on a Tuesday night. That makes it one of the most honest food towns on the island: nothing here survives on a sea view; everything survives on regulars. Here is where those regulars go, with real ratings from real guests.
The grill is the heart of it
If Lakatamia has a signature smell, it is charcoal.
- Big Hit Properly Grilled is the name locals give you first: charcoal souvlaki, generous portions, 4.8 on Google.
- Delish Grill matches it at 4.8, and takes table requests if you are coming as a crowd.
- Marinado rounds out the grill row at 4.4.
The burger corner
Lakatamia quietly became one of the better burger neighbourhoods in the district.
- Flipstreet Burgers, 4.6, the local favourite.
- Burger Heroes, 4.5, the reliable second opinion.
- Chick-in Tenders, 4.5, when the answer is chicken.
For a proper evening
- Jasmine Gastrobar is the dress-up option (4.7) and bookable.
- DONDE allday does what the name says, from morning coffee to evening plates, 4.5.
- Ocean Basket at Nicosia Mall is the seafood answer when the family cannot agree, 4.6.
The Greek-named kitchens
Two names that need no translation for locals: Οι Μαγείρισσες (4.5) and Το Πικάντικο (4.4), both bookable, both the kind of place you hear about from a neighbour rather than an ad.
And one you did not expect
Makai Poke Bowls holds a 5.0 rating, the highest in town. Poke in Lakatamia sounds unlikely until you try it, which is rather the point.
The Lakatamia move: order pickup, skip the fee
Most of these kitchens are minutes from wherever you are in town, which makes Lakatamia perfect pickup country. Order through CyprusBites pickup and the venue pays no commission, so the money stays between you and the kitchen instead of feeding a delivery app. Same food, same price, no middleman.
