Family Friendly Tourist Friendly Traditional Local Favourite Good for Groups Outdoor Seating Excellent Service Good Value

Set in one of the oldest houses in Ayia Napa, Stamna Tavern has been serving traditional Cypriot food since 1982. This warm, family-run taverna was founded by Andreas, who you may still find cooking in the kitchen or bringing plates to your table. The atmosphere is genuinely local, with family photographs on the walls and a cosy, air-conditioned dining room alongside outdoor seating.

The kitchen focuses on homemade classics: generous meat and vegetarian mezes, tender kleftiko lamb, afelia (pork marinated in wine and coriander), moussaka fresh from the oven, and the celebrated house taramosalata. Vegan and vegetarian guests are genuinely well looked after, with a wide variety of dishes. Visitors consistently praise the friendly, attentive staff, fair prices and authentic Cypriot flavours, with many returning multiple times during a single holiday.

Open every evening from 17:30 to 23:00, the taverna fills quickly, so advance booking is strongly recommended. If you want a real taste of Cyprus away from the neon of the resort strip, Stamna is a rewarding choice for couples, families and groups alike.

Authentic, homemade Cypriot dishes made with fresh ingredients
Warm, friendly and attentive service (waiters Yannis and Zoe named)
Cosy, traditional atmosphere with historic building and family photos
Fair, reasonable prices
Generous variety, including strong vegetarian and vegan mezze options
One diner found portions small and the meat meze half the usual size for the price
Some sausages (loukaniko, pastourma) perceived as supermarket quality
Felt tourist-oriented rather than authentically Cypriot to one reviewer
Occasional inconsistency in service, with one originally assigned waiter hard to reach
Fills up quickly and drinks (whiskey) served over-iced and watery in one case
