Proven guests, and instant confirming them

Some guests have a proven record of turning up, measured by arrivals your own door confirmed. Tick one box and their table is confirmed the moment they ask, so you never keep a reliable regular waiting. Everybody else still comes to you.

WHAT PROVEN MEANS, exactly: at least six bookings and at least ninety per cent turning up, over the last twelve months. Not a mood, a number.

AND IT IS PROVEN BY YOUR DOOR, NOT BY THEIR PHONE. The arrival has to be confirmed at the venue, by a scan at the door. A guest typing their own code into a page does not count and used to; that was changed on purpose, because a score anybody can award themselves is not a score.

IT IS PURE CARROT. You only ever see the top tier. There is no bad badge, no warning, no list of suspects, and there never will be. A cancellation by the guest and a decline by you are excluded from the maths by construction, so somebody is never punished for your full Saturday or for calling ahead to cancel politely.

THE SWITCH STARTS OFF. Nothing is instant confirmed until you tick the box, and it is per venue. One outstanding instant-confirmed table at a time, so a sudden run of them cannot fill your book behind your back.

YOU ARE STILL TOLD. An instant confirm is not a secret; it appears like any other confirmed table, you just did not have to tap it.

Wie das aussieht A couple who have eaten with you nine times in a year ask for Thursday at eight. With the box ticked, they get an instant yes while they are still looking at their phone, you get told, and you did nothing. With it unticked, they wait for you like a stranger, which is the opposite of how you would treat them in the room.

Gut zu wissen Turn it on. The guests it affects are the ones you would have accepted anyway, and the difference they feel is being treated like a regular by a system rather than being made to wait like a first timer.
