The Villa of Theseus is one of the largest Roman residences in Paphos, believed to have been the home of the island's Roman governor. Set within the Paphos Archaeological Park, this open-air site spreads across nearly 100 rooms arranged around a broad central courtyard. Its highlight is the celebrated floor mosaic depicting Theseus battling the Minotaur, framed by a pattern representing the labyrinth and the thread of Ariadne.

A photogenic row of standing columns has become a favourite spot for visitors' photographs. Ongoing preservation work protects these fragile treasures, and a QR-code audio guide lets you wander at your own pace and learn as you go. Admission is modest at around €4.50 for adults, with children entering free, making it excellent value for history lovers.

Open daily from 08:30 to 17:00, the villa sits close to other remarkable ruins such as the neighbouring House of Aion, so you can easily combine several sites in one visit. Note that during conservation periods some mosaics may be covered with protective sand.
