Platanos Stou Roushia

Tucked into the peaceful hillside village of Kato Drys, near Lefkara in the Larnaca district, Platanos Stou Roushia (part of the family-run Stou Rousha group) serves authentic, home-style Cypriot cooking based on family recipes. Rather than a fixed meze, the menu lets you build your own spread from traditional and more contemporary plates: beef and tomato stew, afelia with pourgouri, stuffed cabbage rolls, mixed pork and pork tenderloin, feta saganaki, falafel, zucchini fritters, strapatsada, village salad with dips, and handmade ravioli with feta. Look out for specials such as asparagus with eggs and the unusual fried celery leaves.

Dishes lean on fresh, local ingredients and charcoal grills. The warm, welcoming interior is complemented by a lovely outdoor seating area shaded by a large plane tree, ideal for relaxed summer lunches and evenings. Open for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Monday (shorter hours Sunday, closed Tuesday), with easy parking and a genuinely rural, off-the-tourist-track atmosphere.
