No venue can pay for a place
Venues can pay us for tools, never for a higher place in results, on the site or in the app. When friends decide together with Gather, the pick is chosen on how well it fits the group, and nothing else.
Most apps ask you to trust them. We would rather show you. These are the promises CyprusBites is built on, and the checks in our code that keep us to them.
Every claim here is one we actually keep.
Not rules we hope to follow. The way the product is built.
Venues can pay us for tools, never for a higher place in results, on the site or in the app. When friends decide together with Gather, the pick is chosen on how well it fits the group, and nothing else.
A table that ordered and paid, a takeaway the venue handed over or a booking the venue scanned at the door reads Was there, and a party the venue confirmed reads Verified party. A visit recorded only from a phone reads Checked in, because a phone can be fooled. No record, no mark.
Writing a review earns nothing: no Bites, no prizes, no discounts. People write them because they have something to say, and that is the only kind worth reading.
Where we use AI to summarise or suggest, it only narrates figures from real activity. It never invents a statistic, a trend, or a reason. No data behind something? We say so.
You only get marketing email when you ask for it. The newsletter you sign up for is confirmed by email before we send a thing, every newsletter carries a one-click unsubscribe that works at once, there is a cap on how often we write, and we never bought your address.
We do not sell your data and we show no third-party advertising. Google Analytics runs only if you accept cookies. Our own visit counter uses a first-party cookie that never leaves CyprusBites. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
The promises we trust least to willpower are checked by the code instead. A test runs every time a CyprusBites release is built, and it refuses to let the release through unless these hold.
The part that chooses a group's place cannot read whether a venue pays us, and neither can the shortlist it chooses from.
A venue's plan unlocks tools and nothing else. If a change ever let a plan write a ranking score or fill a sponsored slot, the release would not build.
When you ask several venues for a party or stay price, each one quotes without seeing the others, so they compete for you rather than against each other.
If any of those broke, the release would simply not ship. That is what we mean when we say no venue can buy its way up. It is not a marketing line, it is a build that fails without it.
A real person answers. We are happy to explain anything on this page in more detail.
