Still learning this one's personality.
Standing at the southern end of Larnaca's palm-lined Finikoudes promenade, the Larnaka Medieval Fort is a compact stone stronghold linked to the Lusignan period and reshaped under Ottoman rule, later serving as a British-era prison. Today it houses the small Larnaka Medieval Museum, whose three rooms display artefacts spanning the Early Christian, Byzantine, Post-Byzantine and Ottoman periods, including glazed pottery, medieval weapons, helmets and photographs of Byzantine wall paintings. In the courtyard you can see Ottoman cannons and an open-air theatre used for summer events.
A modest entry fee (commonly cited around €2.50) lets you climb the walls and take in sweeping views of the harbour and the Mediterranean. Most visitors explore the site in 15 to 45 minutes, making it an easy, affordable addition to a day by the sea. Right beside Finikoudes Beach and a short stroll from the Church of Saint Lazarus and the marina, it is a convenient, atmospheric stop for anyone curious about Larnaca's layered history.
