Today it houses the small Larnaka Medieval Museum, whose three rooms display artefacts spanning the Early Christian, Byzantine, Post-Byzantine and Ottoman periods, including glazed pottery, medieval weapons, helmets and photographs of Byzantine wall paintings. In the courtyard you can see Ottoman cannons and an open-air theatre used for summer events.

A modest entry fee (commonly cited around €2.50) lets you climb the walls and take in sweeping views of the harbour and the Mediterranean.
