An average midpoint sacrifices one person to the group. This does the opposite: it looks at every candidate venue and picks the one where the person travelling furthest travels least.
You add starting points as towns, up to a dozen, which is more than anybody actually plans a dinner for.
It covers every kind of place on the island, not only restaurants, so a fair meeting point can be a cafe or a beach bar.
It is its own page rather than a layer on the map, because the map answers where is this and this answers who is coming and from where.
