Akama National Forest Park

Akamas National Forest Park spreads across roughly 230 square kilometres on the rugged western tip of Cyprus, just inland from Latchi in the Paphos district. This protected wilderness of pine-clad hills, gorges and unspoilt coastline is one of the island's most beloved outdoor escapes, earning a 4.8 rating from over 1,650 visitors. Waymarked nature trails such as the Aphrodite, Adonis and Smigies routes climb to summit viewpoints with sweeping panoramas over the coastal plain and azure Mediterranean, passing wildflowers, orchids and historic landmarks like the Tower of Rigena.

Down at the shore, the famous Blue Lagoon dazzles with crystal-clear water, while the mythical Baths of Aphrodite mark a popular starting point. Paved roads reach the trailheads, but the park's dirt tracks are best explored on foot, by quad bike or in a 4x4. Trails are generally well-kept with some steep sections, so bring sturdy footwear, sun protection and plenty of water, as there are no shops inside.
